Review taxes, any special assessments, HOA dues, insurance, and solar agreements. For a condo or townhome, understand what the association pays for and what you must cover.
Review condition and documentation.
Ask for inspection reports, permits for changes, and available builder warranties. A recent construction date does not replace a property inspection.
Test transit and driving options.
If BART or a particular commute is central to your plans, check the trip from the address, station access, parking, and the schedule you would actually use.
